Stretching in General

Stretching is a form of physical exercise in which a specific muscle or tendon (or muscle group) is deliberately flexed or stretched in order to improve the muscle's felt elasticity and achieve comfortable muscle tone. The result is a feeling of increased muscle control, flexibility, and range of motion. Stand with your feet hip-width apart, knees slightly bent and toes pointed forward. Lift both arms out to your side at shoulder height, keeping shoulders even with each other. Twist your wrists until your palms are facing behind you. You should feel the stretch in your bicep muscles. *When you sleep, your muscles lose tone and fluid tends to pool along your back. Stretching helps to massage fluid gently back into the normal position. Also, your muscles protect themselves from over-extension by inhibiting the nerve impulses as they approach their limit
